Built on the Former Joint Venture Sennheiser Communications

EPOS is not a new industry player – until 2020 we were known as Sennheiser Communications, a company established in 2003 as a joint venture between audio specialist Sennheiser and the world-leading hearing healthcare group, Demant. In 2020, Sennheiser and Demant saw great opportunity in focusing their attention on different business segments, each with independent, end-to-end responsibility. As such, both parties amicably agreed to conclude the joint venture and evolve the business segments into different setups: EPOS and Sennheiser.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is EPOS?

EPOS is an audio solution company developing and selling devices for business professionals. Based on pioneering audio technology, we strive to unleash human potential by perfecting audio experiences through a science-based approach of understanding how the brain makes sense of sound.

Is EPOS an entirely new company?
When did Sennheiser Communications become EPOS and why did you change brand?

The EPOS brand was fully launched in the beginning of 2020. On November 30, 2020 the legal entity Sennheiser Communications A/S ceased to exist, and the company name officially changed to EPOS Group A/S. With Demant’s and our own ambitions, we saw it as a natural next step to develop our own brand. A brand where we have full ownership. And a brand which we can develop with a dedicated focus on Enterprise. With proven expertise and success of both parent companies, EPOS has inherited a commitment to constantly strive for premium audio solutions. As part of our successful approach of developing state-of-the-art technologies and methods, we constantly explore new avenues with the aim of delivering premium audio products that excite their users as much as we are passionate about their creation. This philosophy is what commits us to deliver excellent results in all aspects of our business.

Why did Sennheiser KG and Demant decide to end their joint venture?

Demant A/S and Sennheiser electronic GmbH & Co. KG saw great opportunities lying ahead in all business segments of Sennheiser Communications A/S. To be able to fully capture these opportunities both parties wished to dedicate their focus on different business segments with full end-to-end responsibility. Therefore, Demant A/S and Sennheiser electronic GmbH & Co. KG decided to end their joint venture and let the business segments evolve in different set-ups from 2020.

How has the joint venture been separated?

While the business segment of Mobile Music headsets became part of the Sennheiser Consumer business the business segments of Enterprise Solutions evolved into EPOS, a new company established under the Demant Group. The separation happened in good faith and the partners continue their cooperation whenever synergies and opportunities exist. Alongside own-branded premium audio solutions, EPOS continues to sell co-branded EPOS I SENNHEISER products under a trade license agreement with Sennheiser.

Is EPOS owned by Sennheiser?

No. EPOS is fully owned by the Demant Group, and as such builds on more than 115 years of experience of working with innovation and sound. At the core of the company is the ambition to take excellent sound experience for business professionals to the next level – with the clear purpose to help individuals as well as teams across the globe to achieve their full potential through the Power of Audio.

How does EPOS leverage the Demant heritage?

EPOS is part of Demant, a world-leading hearing healthcare and technology group. Through multiple subsidiaries, the Group offers solutions and services to help people connect and communicate with the world around them. Even though EPOS is a separate entity, we have close collaboration with companies within the Demant Group such as Oticon.
